THE NEXT MOVE BELONGS TO BUSH
By Schuyler ThorpeAuthor and Political Activist
Today’s recommendations by the Iraq Study Group should be a wake-up call to President Bush.
And I say should be.
Given the fact that Bush’s position on this Iraq war is at best–unmovable–there is no reason to expect the President to act now as opposed to what he stated as in “a timely fashion”.
A ‘timely fashion’ doesn’t preclude the idea that US forces should be foot-dragged through the next two years out of blind stubbornness and inflexibility based on a man’s innate inability to see through his own foolish pride and accept the fact that words alone will not change the current face or landscape of Iraq.
Sooner or later, we are going to have to let go of this fiasco and face the reality that we no longer are in control of this war. That in order for us to leave, we are going to have to start embracing ideas which were given the cold shoulder before, and start acting like a reasonable member of the international community–instead of a complete jackass.
But it’s all up to Bush. The ball is in his court once again–just like it was a month prior to 9-11. But unlike the September attacks, this ball that could have even more deadlier implications for the US...should Bush drop it again.
Eating crow once in awhile isn’t bad. But Bush may have to do just that–in order to save face in Iraq. If not, then we will continue to see ourselves and our capabilities diminish to nothing in the long term.
And watch as Middle East is consumed by an unthinkable regional war.

You just simply can NOT blame 9-11 on W. Had YOUR president, the whoredog, done his job when the Cole was bombed or the American Embassy in Beirut, then who knows how all of this crap might have turned out?
Terrorism has been brewing for decades, and yet each President has seen fit to pass the buck on to the next administration. None of them being willing to test their leadership abilities, even if they fail that test, as W has apparently done, or so say the Democrats.
It never ceases to amaze me at the sheer number of opinionated folks who honestly believe they know more and better than those in a position to actually know. Too bad all these armchair politicans and tactiticans don't run for office or join the military, We might actually get something accomplished- or so the egos beleive.
Ah. But Bush did have AMPLE warning on the attack which would kill 3000 people on 9-11. But instead, he chose to ignore his PDB on August 6th in favor of a golfing match.
Clinton did a lot on terrorism. The only problem, is that the Republicans didn't want him to do the job required. When he increased funding to fight terrorism, they cried foul. When Sudan offered OBL to the US, the GOP cried, 'Wag the dog'.
But with regards to the Cole, Clinton couldn't launch an investigation or retaliate on those responsible. He only had 2 months left in his term.
Reagan didn't do anything but USE terrorism to his favor. In the fight against the Soviets in Afghanistan, both Reagan and the CIA funded Osama and his cadre to battle against Soviet forces.
Reagan was convinced that he could outspend the Soviets in that regard without having to commit any substancial US forces to that region.
It worked. The result? The Soviet Bloc fell and Afghanistan went to the Taliban and Osama as a reward.
But Bush I's actions in the Middle East is what started the events 9-11 would eventually come to. The war in Iraq was a precursor to 9-11.
But the age of modern terrorism itself didn't come to pass until we started siding with Israel in the 60s and 70s.
It was then that the Muslim extremists started to come to pass, and movemets were born.
I do not consider myself to be an expert, Linda. But I do know the root causes to terrorism. And most of it has a lot of links to US interests in the Middle East.
